A chara, – If my smartphone is anything to go by, it and the household’s phones are full of digital rubbish, inane cartoons, video clips, memes, Whatsapp and historical worthless text messages, out of focus photos, Facebook links, unsolicited emails, etc.
If we extrapolate upwards, to energy guzzling data centres, we can readily make the assumption that these centres will hold 95 per cent and upwards of useless data. Akin to space junk, which is also growing at an alarming rate, data centres, full of digital rubbish, will be an enormous drain on electricity resources.
We have a problem with litter in Ireland, now digital litter is growing exponentially.
