Sinn Féin and Special Criminal Court

Sir, – It was welcome to see Sinn Féin drop its opposition to the non-jury Special Criminal Court.

It is interesting to observe that most of western Europe has non-jury courts. Juries are a hangover from the British legal system, and the adherence of Sinn Féin to jury courts, combined with its dislike of the Special Criminal Court, demonstrated a certain loyalty on the part of Sinn Féin to British legal standards. – Yours, etc,
