We should follow Danish example of bold climate action

Newly formed government has replaced agriculture role with a minister for nature and animal welfare

Letters to the Editor. Illustration: Paul Scott

Sir, – For the first time in more than a century, Denmark will not have a minister for agriculture. As the newly formed Danish government looks to move away from ultra-intensive, environmentally harmful and export-driven farming models towards a more environmentally responsible, sustainable model, they will replace the agriculture role with a minister for nature and animal welfare.

That is what bold, tangible nature and climate action looks like.

If the Danes can do it, why can’t we? – Yours, etc,

OLA LØKKEN NORDRUM,

Dublin 4.
