One of only two incumbents in Louth holds seat for Labour

Ged Nash has been a TD since 2020, though he also previously held a seat in 2011 and 2016.

He has been the Labour Party spokesperson for finance, public expenditure and reform since his re-election in 2020.

His priorities included seeking further investment in the Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, to address long waiting lists, more school places and technological university status for Dundalk Institute, securing city status for Drogheda, and better transport services.

He was also previously a councillor, and Mayor of Drogheda in 2004.

While he was a senator, he was involved with the process which led to a Government apology to LGBT+ people for the discrimination they faced before the decriminalisation of homosexuality.

Before he was a politician, Nash worked in various sectors including in the arts, local journalism and the trade union movement.

Alongside Ruairí Ó Murchú (SF), Nash was one of the only two incumbents in the race in Louth constituency.
