Time to ban ritual circumcision?

Sir, – We will never rid the world of female genital mutilation (Letters, February 7th) until we tackle the issue of ritual male genital mutilation.

While it continues to be acceptable to perform unnecessary surgery on the genitalia of boys then, in the minds of some people, it will equally be acceptable to conduct similar practices on girls.

Instead of a campaign to ban female genital mutilation there should be a campaign to ban genital mutilation of all children. – Yours, etc,
