Sir, – In response to "Oral BiO9: The future of dental hygiene is gleaming but expensive" (Business, ,October 21st), the Dental Health Foundation Ireland advocates for good oral health, and looking after your oral hygiene does not need to be expensive. For most of us, €650 for an electric toothbrush is quite simply out of our reach.
Brushing our teeth twice a day with a basic manual toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste does the job.
For better oral health for everyone, we need to reduce oral health inequalities and to make toothbrushes and fluoride toothpaste affordable for all.
Good oral health is a basic human right, not a luxury item. – Yours, etc,
