Sir, – In response to my letter about the dangers of wet leaves to pedestrians, your correspondent (Letters, November 5th) places the responsibility on the person walking in the event of a fall.
Of course it is incumbent on everyone to take care, but surely the taxpayer is entitled to some protection. In the past, footpaths were swept regularly. Now they are a national disgrace.
Roads are gritted in icy conditions to safeguard motorists. It seems pedestrians don’t matter. – Yours, etc,
