Queuing for buses

Sir, – There is a problem with queuing for buses in certain city centre streets of Dublin. Why do Irish people have an aversion to queuing in an orderly fashion? Instead they hang around in knots or lean against a nearby wall, and when the bus arrives there is a free-for-all, resulting in “devil take the hindmost”. Not good enough.

I wonder whose duty it is to regulate such unseemly scrimmages. Is this the responsibility of Dublin Bus or of the city authorities? Whoever is responsible should do something about it to help the elderly or infirm, not to mention the bad impression given to tourists of the wild Irish. – Yours, etc,

GEAROID KILGALLEN,

Dún Laoghaire,
