Politics – one rule for them?

Sir, – Finn McRedmond believes the legality in the UK of Leo Varadkar's attendance at a festival there over the summer makes it okay ("Johnson should go but maybe not now and maybe not like this", Opinion & Analysis, April 14th). At that time the Irish Government did not allow such activities because it regarded the associated health risk as too high. Did Mr Varadkar believe the health risk was different in the UK at the time or did he not agree with the rationale for the regulations in Ireland? As to the great man of history theory being applicable to Phil Hogan, I don't know where to start. Let's leave it at I disagree. – Yours, etc,
