Sir, – It is accepted that the householders affected by mica blocks did nothing wrong but the people who lost their pensions when bank shares went to nought did nothing wrong either. In the latter case there was a government-appointed regulator who failed to act. The idea that Seán taxpayer should pay for the rebuilding of houses much bigger than Seán’s own dwelling is unreasonable.
