Sir, – “Ireland is ahead of its European neighbours in recycling.” That is the response I have received from Minister for Communications Denis Naughten TD in answer to my suggestion that a deposit charge be put on plastic bottles and drink cans.
In the past, I have been given the same information by both Phil Hogan and Alan Kelly.
Why are our TDs blind to the problems of widespread rubbish dumping in rural Ireland?
