Middle-class activities?

A chara, – To answer Michael O'Loughlin's question, "How did cycling become a middle-class thing?" (Opinion & Analysios, August 16th), I'd broaden it.

Saying something is middle class is a way to put down something perceived as taking effort, like cycling, walking or taking public transport instead of driving.

Likewise breastfeeding, sending children to a Gaelscoil, not eating meat, wearing second-hand clothes, even a chilly swim, which becomes middle class, and slagworthy, if you wear a warm coat with a hood after the swim. – Is mise,
