Sir, – Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney, as part of Ireland’s membership of the UN Security Council, recently visited Tehran with a view to reviving the Iranian nuclear deal.
Is it wise, however, to revive the nuclear deal, which would involve the lifting of sanctions?
Not long ago, massive anti-government protests were brutally put down in Iran, with large-scale killing of protesters.
The Iranian government is also a major propagator of terrorism in its sphere of influence.

Surely maintaining sanctions against the Iranian regime would hasten its demise. This could only be in the interests of the oppressed Iranian population and neighbouring states. – Yours, etc,
