Sir, – I was somewhat surprised that Dublin City Council failed to secure State funding for its proposed whitewater rafting facility. Based on the money it spends elsewhere, it would only be a drop in the ocean. It could be part of a masterplan to spend millions conserving the Poolbeg chimneys and to link them by cable car to the whitewater rafting facility. All “urgently” needed and it would be money well spent. – Yours, etc,
