Sir, – Not all those in their 60s are incensed at the Government's vaccination policy (Fintan O'Toole: "Those who did what they were told on vaccines now feel like eejits", Opinion, June 26th). Many of us have children in their 20s and 30s. I am sure I am not alone in being happy to be given a second shot of AstraZeneca so that mRNA vaccine supplies are available for younger people.
We have been informed that all second AstraZeneca doses will be given by the end of the week beginning July 19th, which means that all over 60s who registered will be fully vaccinated within four weeks.
The younger age cohorts have much less certainty as to when they will receive even their first vaccine doses.
Any change to the vaccination policy is likely to delay their receiving any protection from Covid. – Yours, etc,
E COTTON,

Sir, – It is not surprising that Fintan O’Toole (Opinion, June 26th) on “vaccine eejits” reverts to his standard wisdom of hindsight to condemn our health authorities who have been doing a fantastic job despite many unforeseen obstacles.
What is surprising is that he didn’t also blame Brexit and Boris Johnson while he was at it.
Maybe Mr O’Toole should sit on the National Immunisation Advisory Committee as a non-medical expert?

Sir, – I hope that my fellow 60-69 year-old constituents of Dublin Bay South will, no matter what their usual political affiliations, refuse to vote in the byelection for any of the three Government parties responsible for the discriminatory vaccine policy which puts their lives at greater risk than their younger and older friends and relations, as well as people of a similar age in Canada, France, Germany, Finland, Spain and other countries.
– Yours, etc,

Sir, – Bravo Fintan O’Toole! As former High Court judge Barry White was fond of saying from the bench: “Fool me once, I’m the fool. Fool me twice, you’re the fool.”
Roll on the next election, the over 60s are waiting.
