Sir, – Stephen Collins's analysis and observations on Fianna Fáil's stance on entering into government with Sinn Féin are astute and perceptive ("Martin's position on Sinn Fééin is correct and courageous", Opinion & Analysis, September 21st).
The stance of Micheál Martin and his party’s stance on Irish Water were also correct and courageous. Then Paul Murphy was elected; electoral advantage called for an about-turn.
If past actions are anything to go by, Fianna Fáil’s “core principles” will remain as elastic as ever under the pressure to gain power. – Yours, etc,
PADDY McGOVERN,
