Sir, – Now that Mícheál MacDonncha, Dublin's lord mayor, is in Israel, I hope he puts his remaining time to good use ("Israel wants to expel Dublin lord mayor", News, April 12th).
He could start by taking a look at Tel Aviv’s successful promotion of cycling (including battery-powered bikes) and its development of an integrated mass transit system incorporating Luas-type light rail, Dart-like underground trains and modern buses.
Then there is the Israeli water system that manages to recycle nearly 90 per cent of all wastewater.
Dublin City Council could learn a lot from Israel, a tiny state the size of Leinster. – Yours, etc,
