Colourising old photographs

Sir, – Diarmaid Ferriter (Opinion, October 29th) and Pat Wallace (Letters, November 4th) may have legitimate objections to the colourisation of photographs if the originals were being erased in the process. But they aren't. They survive as black and white representations of a world of colour.

As regards accuracy, the authors have been clear about the limitations of the process. The books are quite simply a delight. – Yours, etc,

PÓL Ó DOCHARTAIGH,

Bearna,
