Sir, – In response to the article on new apprenticeship opportunities in Ireland ("You're hired: how to become an apprentice", June 16th), I would like to draw the attention of your readers to the issue of access for young people with disabilities. Many of these students , such as deaf students, for example , may need an interpreter, or students with dyslexia may need training in specific technology to allow them to succeed. There is no provision in these schemes for these supports.
It is simply not good enough that a new national apprenticeship scheme excludes these potential students and does not comply with national and EU legislation. – Yours, etc,
