Sir, – Taoiseach Leo Varadkar informs us (Home News, June 25th) that children of same-sex married couples will have their same-sex parents’ names on their birth certificates.
This will require not only a change in the law, but also a radical change to the Leaving Certificate biology syllabus.
The proposal is all the more remarkable given the recent strong criticism of a practice in the past of inserting adoptive parents’ names in the birth certificates of babies being adopted. – Yours, etc,
