Met Éireann has issued orange and yellow weather warnings as heavy winds are expected to increase as the day goes on.
Exposed western coastal areas are under orange status and are predicted to be the worst hit. Southwest wind speeds there are forecast up to 70 km/h and gusts could exceed 110km/h.
The rest of the country is under status yellow, with the average southwest wind speed being greater than 46 km/h and gusts reaching up to 110 km/h.
The warnings are valid until 9am on Monday.
ESB is reporting some power outages, including faults in the Quin and Ennis areas of Co Clare and the Corbally area of Limerick. For updates on faults and repairs as they happen, click here.
AA Roadwatch is advising motorists to take extra care as there is likely to be debris on secondary roads.
Sunday is set to remain cloudy with isolated showers and temperatures are predicted to be between seven and nine degrees Celsius.
Overnight, rain will develop in the west and spread eastwards, turning heavy at times. Temperatures are set to rise slightly throughout the night, but will drop again to between four and six degrees in the morning as the rain eases up.
