Coffin race a dead cert
If you happen to be in the small American town of Manitou Springs, in Colorado, this autumn, why not take in the annual Emma Crawford Coffin Race? It honours a local woman who died at the top of Red Mountain in 1889. More than 5,000 spectators are expected to watch upwards of 35 coffins race up the town's main street, at the foot of Pike's Peak mountain. Other events tied to the race include the Parade of Hearses. www.colorado.com, www.manitousprings.org
