Northern Ireland cyclingThis weekend sees the launch of the new Cycle Northern Ireland brochure, which should include everything you need to know, whether you're looking for a family day out or a lung-busting spin through the mountains.

The brochure is complemented by a website, www.cycleni.com. All you need to get involved is a bike.

OrienteeringWhy not take a walk or run in the great outdoors? The simplest description of orienteering is that it is finding your way from one point to another, using only a map, a compass and your brain. It's usually done in woods, on hills or in parks, with the participants on foot. The simplest way to start orienteering is to just go to an event. Almost all events have a course suitable for beginners. Look through the fixtures list for a convenient one. Or contact a member of your local club, who will help get you started. See www.orienteering.ie.

A good reason to wear a wetsuitDo you fancy trying scuba diving? You can give it a go via a six-week evening course that involves both academic and pool sessions at the National Aquatic Centre, in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, or at Glenalbyn sports complex, in Stillorgan, Co Dublin. You then make four sea dives, either over a series of weekends in Dublin or, more popularly, on a weekend away to Killary fjord, in Connemara. See www.oceandivers.ie
