Brendan McAtamney has stepped down from his role as chief executive of UDG Healthcare following the completion of a deal to acquire the company by Clayton Dublier and Rice for €3.2 billion.

The private equity firm put in a revised bid to acquire the Dublin-based group in late June that won approval from shareholders the following month.

Mr McAtamney is to retain links with UDG by continuing in a non-executive capacity for the company's two divisions, Ashfield and Sharp.

“I am honoured to have led UDG over the last six years and am thankful to have been supported by enormously talented colleagues across the globe. Over the years, collectively, we have generated excellent value for our shareholders but most importantly we have helped our clients provide innovative solutions to our shared patients,” said Mr McAtamney.

“I firmly believe UDG Healthcare, and its divisions of Ashfield and Sharp, have a very exciting future under the new ownership of Clayton Dublier and Rice and I look forward to supporting in a non-executive capacity,” he added.

UDG specialises in healthcare advisory, communications, commercial, clinical and packaging services. The company employs around 9,000 people globally.
