Garmin’s latest watch is the Forerunner 955, a solar-powered device aimed at long-distance runners.
It comes with an always-on, full-colour display that is designed to be easy to read, even in direct sunlight, and has a touchscreen alongside the five-button design so you can access all the menu options quickly and easily. It includes new features such as heart rate variability status, a training readiness score and race widget that includes information such as a race day-specific performance prediction, weather and a countdown clock. Other indicators such as VO2 max and real-time exertion levels are also included.

Turn by turn directions for courses are available on your wrist, along with performance metrics, split times, distance and elevation data and a summary of upcoming key course points.
There is also a wealth of data to be gathered, from your fitness age and heart rate to step count, calories and sleep. The Forerunner 955 will also alert you to how long recovery time will be, and includes Garmin’s sleep and stress tracking, alongside the body battery that monitors your energy levels, so you can keep a close eye on your wellbeing.
