Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil has shot down speculation linking him with a move away from the Spanish giants.

The Germany international has been a reported target for Premier League clubs Manchester United and Arsenal this summer, while his position in the Madrid line-up appeared under threat after attacking midfielder Isco’s arrival from Malaga.

However, Ozil would appear to be very much a part of Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s plans after starting in their opening two Primera Division games against Real Betis and Granada.

And the 24-year-old told the club’s official website: “I want to be successful. A lot has been written in the media about other teams, but I have a contract with Real Madrid and I am staying here.

“I have the coach’s confidence and I feel very good. Also, I have a contract until 2016. I have a very good understanding with all my team-mates and it is a pleasure and an honour to play for Real Madrid.”

After helping his side to six points out of a possible six from their opening two La Liga games, Ozil is confident of Madrid success in all competitions this season.

“We are very happy because we have won both matches and got six points. We have to play better, but there is a lot of room for improvement,” he added.

“When you play for a team as important as Real Madrid, you have to win titles and we will do everything possible.

“We will work hard. We are a club that has special players and I am convinced that we will win titles this year. We have our aims and each of us has a role and we will try to win all of the titles on offer. That’s one of the big reasons for me being here.”
