Bohemians' caretaker manager Owen Heary has told his players it doesn't matter how they play once they start getting the results they need to get out of their current predicament which sees them languishing a point off the foot of the table following a run of 11 games without a win.
In a far from ideal scenario, Heary, who steps up from assistant manager to take temporary charge following Aaron Callaghan's departure on Monday, is suspended from both pitch and dugout for three games following his sending off in the 3-0 defeat at Dundalk last week. First team coach Terry Butler and Graham O'Hanlon, their under-19 coach, will manage the team on the night.
"I've told the team it doesn't matter how we play once we get results," said Heary ahead of their trip to Bray Wanderers tonight.
Apart from his own absence, Heary has a fully fit squad with new signings, defender Mark Byrne and the returning striker Dinny Corcoran, coming in while Ciarán Nangle, Stephen Traynor and Ryan McEvoy are back fit and Andy Mulligan has returned from the World University Games in Russia.
Bray are without suspended midfielder Kevin O’Connor.
Fully conscious of just who their last defeat was against 11 games ago, Shamrock Rovers manager Trevor Croly is respectfully cautious of UCD, tonight visitors to Tallaght Stadium.
“We need to be aware of the dangers that UCD possess going into this game,” said Croly.
“We lost to them earlier in the season - one of only two losses this season - so we know that it will be a difficult game.”
