Longford Town 0 Dundalk 2

Two wonderful second-half goals helped Dundalk regain their seven-point lead at the top of the Premier Division with Longford holding on to sixth position in the table despite the reverse.

The deadlock was broken in the 58th minute when Daryl Horgan shot from 25 yards out. They had chances after but Longford goalkeeper Paul Skinner pulled off a number of saves.

Town’s David O’Sullivan had a shot cleared off the line in the 63rd minute. A minute from time Dundalk got their second goal when sub John Mountney’s fantastic long-range strike found the back of the net. The home side had a late chance but Stephen Rice’s effort went wide.
