Castletroy pip Crescent to claim the cup

Tries from Hourigan and Niall O’Shea set up surprise victory

Castletroy caused a big surprise to win the Munster Schools Junior Cup and in the process denied Crescent adding to their senior crown.

A dominant pack paved the way for the win and, once in front 10-0, Castletroy held on for victory despite a barn storming late effort by Crescent.

A powerful maul after Eoin Hourigan won a lineout resulted in Darragh O’Neill being credited with the opening try and three minutes into the second half Castletroy captain, Niall O’Shea, added their second try following another drive by the pack.

Crescent managed an injury -time try by Anson Thai which Conor McSweeney converted.
