Munster confirm one-year contract extension for Conor Murray

No update given on Peter O’Mahony’s future at the province

Munster and the IRFU have confirmed that scrumhalf Conor Murray has been given a one-year contract extension.

The 34-year-old has made185 Munster appearances and scored 34 tries for the province. He has 116 Ireland caps and 16 tries. He has also played on three Lions tours.

There was no update on Peter O’Mahony’s future with the province, with the 34-year-old’s present Ireland central contract set to finish at the end of the season.

Backrow forward Jack Daly, 25, has also signed a one-year contract extension, while talented 20-year-old backrow Brian Gleeson has been promoted from the academy to the senior squad for next season.

Currently out of action with an ankle injury, Gleeson had already made three Champions Cup appearances before turning 20.

Gleeson is one of five academy players progressing to the senior squad next year with Tony Butler, Ethan Coughlan, Mark Donnelly and Edwin Edogbo also signing two-year deals.
