Geoffrey Chaucer's Derby fortunes have been downbeat so far but he will get the chance to put that right on Sunday after being supplemented at a cost of €65,000 into the 145th Deutsches Derby in Hamburg.

Godolphin have supplemented Pinzolo for the German Derby, a race in which the main home hope is likely to be Sea The Moon, an unbeaten son of Sea The Stars trained by Markus Klug. Wild Chief, fourth to The Grey Gatsby in the French Derby, is another German contender.
Missunited at Ballybrit
Meanwhile, authorities at Galway racecourse have confirmed Guinness will put in €1 million of sponsorship money into the festival which starts at the end of this month.
The Guinness Galway Hurdle, highlight of day four, will be worth €250,000, keeping it as Ireland’s most valuable jumps race. It was won last year by Missunited, a gallant third in last month’s Ascot Gold Cup, who could defend her Ballybrit title next.
