Men’s Division One title aspirations via a 4-1 win at Serpentine Avenue yesterday.

With Town pushing hard for an equaliser at 2-1 down in the second period, the latter should have benefited when Pembroke skipper Adam Pritchard was sin-binned for breaking down play.

But instead Pembroke sat deep and burst forward at pace to net two high-quality goals from Karl Lynch and Cillian Hynes to kill off the game.

Earlier Maurice Elliott had opened the scoring only for Andy Ewington to fire home a drag-flick. Conor Harte's low corner shot made it 2-1 early in a second half.

It leaves Monkstown six points off the pace while Pembroke jump above them into second place. Three Rock Rovers took full advantage with a 3-1 win over Glenanne – thanks to some fine goalkeeping from Stephen West.

Mitch Darling's brace had them up 2-0 before Gary Shaw got the Glens back in the game from the penalty spot and his side piled forward thereafter.

Stephen Brownlow and Sam O'Connor drew some superb stops from West before Joe Brennan converted a final second corner against his former club to seal the win.

Rovers lead the rankings by four points. UCD’s 6-0 win in Fingal meant they stay in the mix in the top four.
