John Murtagh has had a comparatively slow start to the season but he could almost double his total at today's all-flat card at Navan.
The former champion jockey hasn't ridden a winner in Ireland since April 1st and his tally of four winners languishes a long way behind the leader Mick Kinane on 14.
The recovery could start today however. Last year's Derby fourth Pugin returns to the track he broke his maiden in and the Music & Celebrity Race looks an ideal reintroduction.
The John Oxx runner hasn't had a race since finishing fifth in the Doncaster Leger but the trip and the conditions look ideal.
Media Puzzle has his own first start for 11 months and the former Stakes winner Yeoman's Point could be the dark horse. But Pugin should be up to scoring.
Murtagh rides Kenilworth in the mile and a quarter maiden and it should be third time lucky for the colt.
He ran well for a long way when fourth to Black Sam Bellamy at the Curragh last time and Kenilworth could have too much for the Sadler's Wells colt Mughas.
Philip Rothwell has booked Murtagh for Caesar's Star in the two-year-old race and the arrangement looks significant.
The horse ran third to Tomahawk and the subsequent winner Cat Belling in the first race of the season and improvement for the experience can be expected.
Diamond Trim was the subject of a positive report from Dermot Weld during the week but any progress the Stakes winner has made over the winter will surely be tested by the 20lb concession to the three-year-old Aqualina in the fillies race.
Murtagh will also be at Cork tomorrow but so will Mick Kinane who should kick things off with a winner on the newcomer Marino Marini. The $1.8 million Storm Cat colt is the first foal of the Grade One winner and has been mentioned by Aidan O'Brien as a possible Royal Ascot type.
The most valuable event is the seven-furlong handicap where Provosky bids to repeat his triumph of last year.
Pat Smullen has elected to ride the Listed winner Lethal Agenda instead of Maumee but the winning solution can be provided by Mr Houdini.
The Pat Hughes-trained horse ran third in the Lincolnshire and looks reasonably weighted.
Pat Smullen's own total so far is six but his championship prospects were hardly boosted by Dermot Weld's admission earlier in the week that he is weak in the three-year-old maiden department.
Weak or not, Luminous Beauty looks to have a decent shout in the fillies maiden with Fresh As A Rose the likely danger.
Smullen could also hit the mark with the hat-trick seeking Tiger Royal who has the filly Scarlet Velvet to beat in the conditions sprint.
There has hardly been an easier winner all jumps season than Rheindross at Fairyhouse last month and even with a 15lb hike, the Moore runner looks good for the two and a half mile handicap chase.
Moore can double up later with Amelia Earhart in the Beginners Chase.
