The Irish Horseracing Authority has written to the Turf Club repeating their concerns if increased Government funding for the sport does not come about.

The move comes about on the eve of an historic march by various racing organisations on the Turf Club which is planned for the Curragh at 10.30 this morning.

"Clearly we have plans in the event of increased Government funding coming through but there are obvious serious implications for those plans if the funding doesn't happen," said Martin Moore, the IHA chief executive.

A group consisting of trainers, jockeys, owners, breeders, stable staff and representatives of the greyhound industry will march on the Curragh this morning and hand in a letter of protest to a scheduled Turf Club meeting.
