Fyfer due a bumper harvest

Some of the best bred bloodstock in the world may be traipsing around the ring at Goffs today but at the Fairyhouse races it looks like a good old fashioned bumper could be the focus of the punters' attention.

Fyfer, an expensive failure behind Marys Madera at the Listowel festival, goes on the compensation trail in the last. With Noel Meade saddling the course and distance runner-up Good Vintage, Fyfer could be a reasonable price to get his head in front at the third time of asking.

Fyfer's trainer Paul Nolan could also be on the mark with another Listowel failure, Park Leader, in the maiden hurdle if the horse's jumping has improved, while Castleshane should be hard to beat in the juvenile hurdle.

Given the week that's in it, it's appropriate to see Snake Mountain run in the first division of the two-year-old maiden. The son of AP Indy and Coup De Genie was an expensive purchase at Goffs last year. Aidan O'Brien's filly Snowflake looks the one in the second division.
