Fine Gael's Kieran O'Donnell is originally from Castletroy

Fine Gael’s Kieran O’Donnell, an outgoing Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works, has been elected in Limerick City.

He was first elected to the Dáil for Fine Gael in 2007, lost the seat in 2016, and then migrated to the Seanad. He regained a Dáil seat in 2020.

Mr O’Donnell is a chartered accountant originally from Castletroy, Co Limerick, and a nephew of the late former Fine Gael minister and MEP Tom O’Donnell.

He is a former vice-chair of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), member of the Banking Inquiry and member of the Oireachtas finance committee.

Married to Phil, with two sons and two daughters, Mr O’Donnell, (60) has an honours business studies degree from University of Limerick and has been a Fine Gael spokesman on finance.
