Marie Sherlock is a first-time TD for the Labour Party after securing the final seat in Dublin Central in the 2024 general election.
Originally from Co Cork, Sherlock has been a Senator since 2020. She previously worked as head of policy and equality for Siptu and was a Dublin city councillor for the Cabra-Glasnevin electoral area between 2019 and 2020. She is the niece of the late Labour Party TD Joe Sherlock and a cousin of his son, former TD Seán Sherlock.
During her time in the Seanad, Sherlock brought forward legislation to introduce paid sick leave for workers and to provide stronger protections for people working from home and the right to switch off.
She has also served on the Labour Market Council and the Advisory Group on Tax and Social Welfare and was a member of the Central Statistics Office’s High Level Consultative Group on the reporting of the national accounts in 2016.
Sherlock lives in Phibsborough with her husband and their three children. She is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and the University of Cambridge.
