Cathal Crowe’s return to the Dáil marks an incredible electoral run of six successful elections over the course of the last 20 years.

The former Parteen NS primary school teacher was first elected to Clare County Council for Fianna Fáil at the age of 21 in 2004 and repeated the feat three times and is now twice elected to the Dáil.

After his first Council election, Crowe bought a PlayStation 2 with his first council pay cheque and was the youngest councillor in Ireland at the time.

A keen historian, Crowe helped trigger a national controversy in January 2020 when as then serving mayor of Clare said he would be boycotting a State commemoration for those who served in the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) prior to Irish independence.
