Sir, – Michael McDowell (Opinion, July 7th) expresses scepticism about Ireland's renewable energy policy.
Discussion of this topic is dominated by the wind industry. However, we live on an island surrounded by water which rises and falls twice a day with total reliability.
It passes my understanding why there is no discussion, research or development concerning the exploitation of tidal power. – Yours, etc,
