Vaccinations and schoolchildren

Sir, – "Dr Tomás Ryan, a neuroscientist at Trinity and a member of the Independent Scientific Advocacy Group, said it was 'completely not radical' to require that students be vaccinated as it was already required that young schoolchildren be vaccinated against certain diseases before going to school" ("Reasonable for colleges to insist on vaccination, says TCD scientist", News, August 9th).

Schoolchildren are not required to have any vaccination. Vaccinations in Ireland are voluntary and always have been. – Yours, etc,

TONY O’DWYER,

Roscam,
