Time to declutter city footpaths

A chara, – As a tourist guide, I’m very aware of the charms of Dublin but in general our footpaths are not charming at all. Many are too narrow and in bad condition and are dirty and strewn with takeaway debris. The late evening display of black plastic rubbish bags left outside restaurants and pubs for collection does not help, and neither does the music that many establishments like to share with pedestrians, whether they like it or not.

A decluttering of unlicensed advertising placards and other impediments could only improve matters in our crowded city-centre streets. – Is mise,
