Sir, – I fully emphasise with the exasperation expressed by Terry Walsh (Letters, April 26th) with regard to the "sickening bonhomie and fatuous pronouncements" of the Russian ambassador (Interview, April 23rd).
However, I think it very important that you continue to publish this man’s utterances in order to keep Putin’s monstrous regime and the character of those who sustain it highlighted in our consciousness.
A major challenge facing us at this remove, as the war perpetuates, is to keep our revulsion and repudiation of Putin’s behaviour inflamed so we don’t get “war weary” and allow our humanitarian instincts and our sense of justice to be blunted. – Yours, etc,
