Sir, – David McWilliams's analysis of a "terrible neighbour" in his article on the Northern Ireland protocol ("I have a terrible neighbour, and so do you", Opinion & Analysis, May 21st) reminds us (yet again) that Boris Johnson "is the guy who compared Brexit to Ukraine's life or death struggle against Russia", presumably with the implication that Johnson's comparison was silly and perhaps offensive. David McWilliams is not the first to mock Mr Johnson for that remark. However, he might be the first to do so a few lines after comparing Johnson to the ex-KGB ruler of Russia, Vladimir Putin. Which terrible neighbour would David McWilliams rather have, I wonder. – Yours, etc,
DAVID HARRIS,
