Taking note

Sir, – I brought my two daughters to see Hamilton in the Victoria Palace Theatre in London. It was mesmerising. Not so mesmerising was when I went to buy some ice-creams at the break. The ice-cream seller refused to take my Northern Ireland £10 note, despite it being legal currency in the UK. Given the subject matter of the musical and the fact that a Northern Ireland political party is propping up the UK government, it seems perverse that my £10 note was not acceptable. I know what Alexander Hamilton would have done – but then the no readmittance policy would then have come into play. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – I read that Northern Ireland is to get new polymer banknotes (Business, November 6th). What? More plastic? – Yours, etc,
