Sir, – Media reports quite correctly point out the travel disruption faced by holidaymakers as a result of the planned strike action at Ryanair.
I am once again puzzled by the sweeping generalisation that exists right across the Irish media and assumes that airlines and airports exist solely for the purpose of leisure – an odd stance given that journalists are surely required to travel by air on a regular basis.
Perhaps a little recognition is in order for the personal and economic impact this strike will have on individuals and businesses that rely on air travel for their livelihood and continued viability. – Yours, etc,
MICHAEL WALSH,
