Sir, – It appears that enough is never quite enough for those who promote the availability of abortion services ("Politicians set to hear calls for less restrictive abortion regime", News, April 26th).
The National Women’s Council, which has a track record in not representing all women, wants to allow terminations on request “up to viability”. It notes that the 12-week limit is challenging for some women. Legislation has to promote the common good and politicians should know that hard cases make bad law. Hopefully, the Oireachtas Committee on Health will hear other voices. – Yours, etc,
