Sir, – Mary Lou McDonald says that as a matter of principle there should be an election for the position of Uachtarán na hÉireann.
I suppose it must be her experience of the annual election of her predecessor for nearly four decades or, for that matter, her own election as uachtarán Shinn Féin that brings her to that conclusion. – Yours, etc,
