Sir, – On the Northern impasse, Pat Leahy suggests that Sinn Féin should park "its concerns on gay rights and the Irish language" (Opinion & Analysis, November 18th).
Why? Why give up on such a positive vision and allow a hollow victory to the naysayers? I don’t get it. Instead, why not persuade unionists to set aside their anti-Irish and anti-gay rights prejudices? Wouldn’t that be the more enlightened course? – Is mise,
