Sir, – An Bord Pleanála’s constant overruling of decisions of their own inspectors and local authorities is a cause of concern. The latest example is its approval of two large-scale schemes, in spite of objections from Dún Laoghaire Rathdown and Fingal County Councils to these developments (News, February 9th).
There is an urgent need for the restructuring of An Bord Pleanála to allow for more democratic control of this unelected body.
What’s the point of county councils drawing up county development plans, in consultation with the public, only to have this democratic process constantly undermined by An Bord Pleanála? – Yours, etc,
