Sir, – Stephen Shaw (Letters, October 29th), on the year-and-a half delay in foreign birth registrations, quite rightly takes issue with official Ireland’s less than stellar performance in recording births in this country.
The performance in recording deaths is ticking over at a similar leisurely pace.
One might be forgiven for thinking that the pandemic might spur activity in this area, but seemingly not.
Recently, that privately run, excellent organisation, RIP.ie had to be called on to provide real-time statistics for the Cental Statistics Office.
